Launching Collection "Luminescence" - summer 2023

The endless hours in my alchemy lab - The Glaze Room - has brought us a fantastic, new surface finish. Here is layering of 3 different glazes- 1st layer is the glossy green glaze, yellow where thinner with some small gold crystalline development. 2nd layer is matte pink glaze, that to me is kind of nothing special, however when applied on top of the GREEN GOLD it makes it lighter green and adds some variation while preserving some small crystalline development. Optional 3rd layer is a micro-crystalline matte glaze. It’s very special as the crystals are rather subtle and not the usual dramatic ones. For the vertical surface of the porcelain mugs I applied all three layers with a brush to get more variation and control the thickness better. For the plates and bowls I applied just the Green and Pink by pouring to get more even coverage.

Technical side-note. When developing these I'm always looking also on the working properties of the glaze. These have been tested only on porcelain so far and that is a good fit. There was some pin-holing (on plates where applied thicker)- however no pin-holing or issues when applied with a brush on mugs, so might be more question of correct thickness.

Pictures with porcelain, fired in my Rohde 200 S BH electric toploader kiln, oxidation to 1250 C.

Firing ramp- 100c to 300c, 200c to 1250 C, 30min soak.
