First collaboration with Krisjanis
At last, our first little collaboration stepped into physical form.
While our lives have long been intertwined through shared projects, land, and vision, this marked the first time Krišjānis and I came together creatively in such a tangible way. He crafted beautiful wooden handles for my teapots, and in return, I made butter dishes to accompany his handmade butter knives — a gentle exchange that felt both meaningful and wonderfully playful.
He, who is now my husband, moves fluidly between many worlds: woodwork, photography, graphic design, mechanics, and the steady heartbeat of managing our farm. Watching his hands shape wood with patience and precision feels like witnessing another language of care. And placing his handles onto my ceramic teapots felt like a quiet marriage of materials — warm wood embracing cool clay.
There was something deeply symbolic in this first collaboration: two crafts meeting, two rhythms in harmony, two practices supporting one another. It wasn’t grand or loud — it was intimate, sincere, and full of soft humour (yes, butter dishes for butter knives felt entirely fitting).
More than objects, these pieces carry the story of shared life and mutual respect — proof that creativity, like love, often lives in small gestures and thoughtful details.
